Introduction of Key Laboratory for Superlight Materials and Surface Technology (KLSMST), Ministry of Education, China.
Adhering to the fine tradition of Ha Jun Gong (PLA Military Engineering Institute), KLSMST always takes serving national defense as its first mission. The laboratory is geared toward the international academic frontier of new energy materials (electrochemical energy storage materials and nuclear fuels) and the country's great demand for material autonomy in the development of naval equipment, and focuses on the scientific problems and core technologies, closely combining the HEU's strategy of three seas and one nuclear (ship industry, naval equipment, marine development, nuclear energy application) . The laboratory takes the surface protection technology and the lightweight technology of materials for ships and boats as the breakthrough point, forms the landmark achievement of serving national defense needs, and takes the key scientific problems in the fields of electrochemical energy storage materials and the seawater extraction of nuclear fuel as the innovation point, and thus walks in the international academic frontier. The laboratory has three research directions of lightweight materials for ship and boat, surface technology for ship and marine engineering materials, energy materials and surface and interface science, and we are committed to building the laboratory into a research and personnel training base that focuses on the both basic science and applied technology research of marine and nuclear materials with distinctive features.
Currently, the laboratory has 65 permanent researchers, among which there are 1 Leading Scientist of National Ten Thousand Talent Program, 2 Young Top-notch Talents of National Ten Thousand Talent Program, 4 Candidates of Program for New Century Excellent Talents supported by Ministry of Education, 4 Longjiang Scholars, and 4 winners of the outstanding youth fund of heilongjiang province. Currently, 8 researchers work as editorial board members of international SCI journals. 2 persons have been selected as Global Highly Cited Scholars for two consecutive years.
In the past five years, nearly 600 SCI papers have been published in the laboratory, among which there are 61 ESI highly cited papers; 136 invention patents have been authorized; 7 scientific and technological works have been published and 26 achievements have been transformed. The laboratory has won 3 first prizes and 9 second science and technology prizes at provincial and ministerial level, and has compiled 1 national standard and 1 industry standard. The laboratory has undertaken 243 scientific research projects, with the project amount of 333.8065 million yuan (RMB) and the account receivable amount of 233.39647 million yuan (RMB). These projects mainly include the National 973 project, the National 863 major project, the national key research and development program (2 leading and hosting projects, and 4 cooperative projects), the National Key Technology Support Programs, the International Science and Technology Cooperation Programs, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the High-Tech Ship Research Program of MIIT and the Military Supporting Scientific Research Program of State Administration for Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense.
In recent years, the laboratory has actively carried out academic exchanges and cooperation with foreign institutions, including the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences, the University of Hokkaido in Japan, the Moscow State University of Bauman Technology and the University of Swansea in England. In addition, the laboratory also has open funds for domestic and overseas scholars to apply for cooperative research.
